Leader: Pastor Gulam Masih
Recognizing the mission field in our own backyard, Calvary Christian Center East Indian Ministry brings the goodness of Jesus Christ to the East Indian community in our area. A Sunday worship service, home Bible studies, and personal, one-on-one evangelism are part of the weekly ministry, all conducted in the Punjabi language. This ministry has become an international center for gospel audio and video tapes, Bible translation, and other evangelistic literature.
Throughout each year, many new people visit our church, some for the first time in their lives. For them it is something completely new and often hard to believe that Jesus loves them the same. Some whose hearts are touched visit the church again. We make them feel at home and welcome them to the house of the Lord. We usually give them gospels, an audio tape, or a video tape of the Jesus movie for them to keep. They may not come to know Jesus at this time, but they are exposed to the one who is able to open their spiritual eyes. Our Sunday service begins 10:00 AM and ends at 12:30 PM. Usually about seventy people attend regularly, though men and women still sit on different sides, which is part of the East Indian culture.
After twenty years of ministry, in December 2003, the Appeal Democrat took time to visit our home, our church members, and attended a church service. They published an article on the first page describing the East Indian Ministry of Calvary Christian Center.
Since this time, our ministry has continued to grow. We offer culturally specific counseling services to include individual, relationship and family assistance.
